International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
Every November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, with the aim of raising awareness of violence against women and girls worldwide, a day that is associated with and promoted year after year by Latin American Council of Social Sciences.
El 25N This is the date chosen to put in the foreground what concerns and worries us 365 days a year: the violence that is exercised against people, when they are discriminated against because of their gender, and to demand policies for its eradication.

The date of November 25 was set by the Latin American feminist movement in 1981 to commemorate the date in 1960 in the Dominican Republic of the three Mirabal sisters (Patria, Minerva and María Teresa), political activists, who were murdered on the orders of the dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo.
In 2000, the UN General Assembly designated that date as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, inviting governments, international organizations and NGOs to get involved and coordinate actions to raise public awareness in order to eliminate all forms of violence against women.
On this #25N, CLACSO is sharing some of our books by renowned women in the field of Latin American and Caribbean feminism. These are leading authors and researchers from the region, characterized by their political commitment and public interventions in defense of women's rights, particularly in the fight against violence against women.
