Farewell to the public health expert Mario Testa from Argentina
From the academic network, the institutions and study groups that make up the CLACSO Working Group on International Health and Health Sovereignty We wish to express our heartfelt recognition and tribute on the passing of Professor Mario Testa (Argentina, 1925-2024).
From our Latin American and Caribbean network of CLACSO Working Group on International Health and Health Sovereignty We recognize and highlight Mario Testa's contributions to critical thinking in public health throughout the 20th century with key works such as "Thinking about Health" (1989), "Strategic Thinking and Program Logic: The Case of Health" (1989), "Deciding in Health: Who?, How? and Why?" (2007), among other great contributions to the training of several generations of public health social scientists and health professionals in Latin America and the Republic of Argentina.
Mario Testa was undoubtedly the most important Argentine public health academic of the 20th century in Argentina, and he enjoyed significant regional recognition!




His work, and especially his human and political-health commitment, leave a legacy for the present and challenges of Critical Thinking in Health from the Global South and Health Sovereignty in the 21st century!
