The feminization of poverty, gender biases in fiscal policies, gender and ethnic wage gaps, and the sexual and international division of labor demonstrate that implemented public policies remain limited and insufficient in most countries. How does the map of inequalities in our region look? What is the current state of women's rights and recognition in Latin America and the Caribbean? Have there been setbacks? What possible alternatives exist, with equality as a fundamental premise, to dismantle the violence intertwined with these inequalities? The chapters in this book are the fruit of the extensive research conducted within the framework of the call for proposals “Gender Inequalities and Violence in Latin America and the Caribbean,” promoted by CLACSO. Taken together, they seek to outline answers to these questions through innovative methodologies that redefine conventional tools and imbue the texts with a unique character. The perspective is, in every case, novel and localized: geographically, but also in terms of theory and epistemology. Reading this book immerses the reader in a truly critical approach to the reality of the continent.
