Challenges of the health system in combating inequalities in the context of the COVID-19 crisis in the Plurinational State of Bolivia

The entire world has been seriously and unexpectedly challenged since the emergence of a strange viral disease that first appeared in China, presumably as a result of the consumption of wild animal meat (bats) by the population of Wuhan. From the first case described in December 2019 until today, the global scientific community has faced an unimaginable situation, and governments and populations have been subjected to one of the greatest health crises in living memory. This has pushed healthcare systems to their limits and exposed, as never before, the enormous shortcomings of all health systems worldwide, without exception, laying bare the fatal consequences that the predatory, neoliberal, patriarchal, and individualistic capitalist model of the last 100 years has had on humankind in terms of health and, therefore, life.
