“We defend knowledge as a public good”
Karina Batthyány presented the magazine Tramas y redes.
CLACSO launched the “"Tramas y Redes" Magazine, a semi-annual, free-access digital publication that meets the standards of a quality scientific-academic publication, and whose goal is to be a reference for the academic community, public policy makers and actors in social movements and processes in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Presenting “Plots and Networks” within the framework of InfoCLACSO on Wednesday On August 18, Karina Batthyány, Executive Secretary of CLACSO, recalled that “We place a lot of emphasis on research, but on impactful research, research that is linked to public policies and to the actors of social movements and organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
He added that this “means committing, once again, to highlighting the contributions of the Social Sciences and Humanities to understanding what is happening in our region and in the world, also from this perspective of the Social Sciences and Humanities. It also means being another channel for disseminating the research of our CLACSO Network,” emphasizing that “this journal, like everything CLACSO does in terms of research and knowledge dissemination, will be Open Access.”
Finally, Karina Batthyány extended an invitation “to contribute and collaborate in promoting our journal and to submit your articles for publication. (…) We believe this journal will join the ranks of high-quality Latin American journals that allow the dissemination of knowledge produced in the Social Sciences without any restrictions or barriers. Furthermore, this journal also aims to be a platform for those beginning their academic or research careers in the Social Sciences: young people who can also send us their contributions.”
