Declaration in solidarity with the revolutionary Cuban people
The CLACSO Working Groups on Afro-descendants and counter-hegemonic proposals y Epistemologies of the South They express their solidarity with the revolutionary Cuban people who face an attempt at destabilization in the context of a global pandemic and the blockade perpetrated by the US for more than 60 years.
Faced with the challenge of containing the spread of various pandemics, Cuba has participated in solidarity, supporting alternatives in other countries. Throughout its history, it has extended a helping hand to its neighbors, assisting those most in need.
Professionals from various sectors continue to operate within a dense network of international cooperation. At the same time, the country faces successive setbacks that have affected the understanding of thousands of people regarding the national project initiated since its glorious revolution.
While progress is made with self-made vaccines, the economic, financial, commercial and energy blockade is imposed. This blockade is inhumane, it condemns a people to unjust humiliation and that Nuestra Améfrica Ladina condemns. As Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva says, “Cuba is already suffering from 60 years of economic blockade in the USA, even more so with a pandemic, it is dehumanizing. I'm tired of seeing fights against Lula, against Dilma, against Trump... As people manifest themselves. But I have not seen a soldier in Cuba like Joel on top of a black man's fish, killing the... Cuba's problems will be solved by Cubans.
These events do nothing more than encourage foreign intervention and threaten Cuban sovereignty.
The brotherly people of Cuba have exercised solidarity and internationalism with other peoples, sending their humanitarian aid to other countries with their Henry Reeve medical brigade.
We stand in solidarity with the revolutionary struggle of our brotherly people of Cuba. Long live Cuba!
