He strongly condemns the coup in Bolivia.

We demand prompt and transparent elections!

The undersigned researchers, who comprise the GT “Left-wing: praxis and social transformation”  We emphatically condemn the coup in Bolivia. Beyond any criticism that can be leveled at the constitutional government of Evo Morales, the intervention of the Security and Armed Forces to force the resignation of the Andean nation's authorities can only be characterized as a coup. Likewise, the repression unleashed against supporters of the deposed government deserves our complete condemnation.

Finally, as Latin Americans and citizens of the world, we want to emphasize that this return to the era of the overthrow of elected governments should be viewed with great concern. The violation of institutional channels for protest and demands, along with the racist, fundamentalist, and authoritarian expressions of the coup leaders, clearly reveals the anti-democratic nature of the coup in Bolivia.

As such, the members of this Working Group repudiate said coup, demand a return to democratic channels of expression and protest, and call for prompt and transparent elections.
