Declaration in defense of human rights, free expression and demonstration of every citizen of any democratic state

The members of Working Group on Borders, Regionalization and Globalization of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, in the face of the social, economic and political crisis that affects the people today
We, the Chilean people, stand in defense of human rights, freedom of expression, and the right to demonstrate as fundamental rights of every citizen in any democratic state. Through critical and collective reflection, and in the face of the increasing social and ecological inequality resulting from the advance of the transnational capitalist system, we stand with and support the struggles and resistance of the Chilean people, who are fighting for the following:

1) The right to demonstrate, which is legitimate and necessary for building citizenship.

Rejecting the violence of the State apparatus and its repressive acts committed since October 18 in Chile, as well as the "State of Exception" that has the most important cities of this country under curfew, violating the human rights of its inhabitants, where torture, rape, murder and abusive arrests have been recorded.

2) I reject the violence and abuse of power by the repressive forces of the State in the marches and rallies, NO TO THE CRIMINALIZATION OF PROTEST AND SOCIAL MOVEMENTS AND THE MILITARIZATION OF PUBLIC SPACE.

3) NO MORE AFPs; for dignified pensions for Chilean workers, with concrete proposals, built from dialogue with both opposition parties and social movements and Chilean society as a whole.

4) For addressing the long-standing popular demands for FREE AND QUALITY PUBLIC EDUCATION at all levels.

5) Against the healthcare system reform that the Sebastián Piñera government intends to implement, which in practice will only deepen the privatization of services. For improved working conditions and for public resources to improve the quality of healthcare. FOR FREE, DIGNIFIED, AND QUALITY PUBLIC HEALTHCARE.

6) Against the expansion and multiplication of SACRIFICE ZONES that constitute the extreme expression of territorial social and environmental degradation, where the result of the historical abandonment by the State is expressed and extractive enclaves are deployed that impoverish our communities, plunder common goods and destroy local economies, condemning communities to survive in very precarious conditions imposed by the State and big capital.

7) NO TO THE TPP11, which brings more plunder and pollution of our territories, more extractivism and transgenic crops, new privatizations, more deregulation and violation of the rights of the people.
the citizens.

8) For the convocation of a Constituent Assembly, for a new Constitution that includes and guarantees social demands, for a more democratic and participatory society.
