Statement on the alarming events in Bolivia
It is also time to extend our hands to Bolivian militants, activists and citizens who require it.
The Working Group on Popular Education and Critical Pedagogies of CLACSO expresses its strongest condemnation of the coup d'état perpetrated in Bolivia on November 10 against the legitimate government of Evo Morales in the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
We express our enormous concern about the advance of fascist, conservative, racist, colonial and religious fundamentalist forces against the process of change in Bolivia and the generation of acts of violence that have been carried out.
Latin America's historical memory alerts us to the brutal repression and massacres promoted and perpetuated by oligarchic political and social sectors and dominant elites who have systematically disregarded political and social equality, popular sovereignty, social and collective rights; in short, the dignity of the peoples, communities and nations that give life to our territories.
This is a time for solidarity among peoples, to fraternize with our Bolivian brothers and sisters, to publicly denounce, by all available means, the coup against the democracy of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, and to denounce the violence and brutality of right-wing groups who will be responsible before history for the grave consequences of leading Bolivia into a civil war.
It is also time to extend our hands to Bolivian militants, activists and citizens who require it.
