Declaration rejecting the interference of the Armed Forces and security forces in the political life of Bolivia

El CLACSO Working Group on Anti-imperialism: Transnational Perspectives in the Global South We express our strongest condemnation of the coup d'état perpetrated against the legitimate government of President Evo Morales. We also publicly denounce the unequivocal rejection of the interference of the Armed Forces and security forces in the political life of the country, which we consider unacceptable and unbecoming of a democratic state.

We strongly condemn the breakdown of constitutional order that has occurred in the Plurinational State of Bolivia, and we call for the prompt reconstruction of democratic institutions through the holding of new elections in which candidates from the same parties that were recognized and authorized by the Electoral Tribunal in the last elections participate.

Finally, we urge the Bolivian people to seek a peaceful solution to the current situation, extending to our sister nations in Latin America and the rest of the international community our request to support a political solution that adheres to the laws of the Plurinational State, since it is essential that peace and consensus return among Bolivian brothers and sisters, always within a framework of respect and, above all, free from the interference of foreign powers and/or agents.
