Diamond Global Summit on Open Access
From October 23 to 27, the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMéx), headquarters of Redalyc, the Network of Scientific Journals of Latin America and the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal, was the meeting point for the Diamond Global Summit on Open AccessThe aim was to implement collective action in the spirit of UNESCO's open science recommendations. These principles are: Equity, sustainability, quality, and usability.

New publication: Evaluation of science in open access digital diamond
The Summit, organized by Redalyc, UAEMéx, AmeliCA, UNESCO, CLACSO, UÓR, ANR, cOAlition S, OPERAS and Science Europe, brought together editors of Diamond Open Access journals, organizations, actors and experts from all continents.
Unlike the commercial "Gold" open access category, the "Diamond" category stipulates that publicly funded materials should be available to society, researchers, and authors free of charge for reading and publishing. Its aim is to establish publishing and knowledge as a public and common good.
There were three central events:
The Redalyc International Publishers' Congress, which has had three previous editions, will be held in conjunction with Redalyc's 20th anniversary. Its aim is to continue the dialogue with the key players who maintain and strengthen the non-commercial publishing sector.
-The Second Meeting of AmeliCA Members is an initiative launched by Redalyc, UNESCO and CLACSO as a means to unite voices, with the conviction that the model of science as a common and public good, where scientific communication and publication does not seek profit and is in the hands and control of academia, is a better solution to achieve a sustainable, inclusive and participatory academic and scientific ecosystem.
With the premise "Our North is the South," the idea is to provide a space for the exchange of perspectives from the Global South, focused on non-commercial Open Access, so that approaches are better understood and recognized, and to ensure that their needs and challenges are widely discussed. This meeting is an opportunity for the world to learn firsthand about the proposed model, a model that is much closer to the common good perspective than in any other region of the world.
-The Diamond Open Access Conference, which follows the first edition held in September 2022 in Zadar, Croatia, brings together the community of organizations and individuals who endorsed the “Action Plan for Diamond Open Access” in March 2022.
