Care in rural contexts
We present a new publication that brings together the results of the research project “Care in Rural Contexts in Latin America and the Caribbean,” promoted by CLACSO in collaboration with UN Women. Through this collaborative book, the project expands the analytical frameworks on care and provides relevant input for the design of public policies, recognizing the profound heterogeneity of rural realities in the region. Based on case studies in Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Chile, the research analyzes the complexities of care territories, family and community practices, the connections between care, gender, and ethnicity—with special attention to Afro-Bolivian communities—and the challenges posed by transnational mobility in rural contexts.
