Bodies, territories, resistances
The CLACSO Working Group on Bodies, Territories, Resistance has existed since 2016 and is intimately linked to the moment we are living not only as inhabitants of Latin America and the Caribbean but of planet Earth.
A new planetary consciousness is emerging in the most disparate places as a result of rethinking and acting in the face of what has been called the "crisis of the heteropatriarchal capitalist Western civilization" or "civilizational collapse".
This is where this Working Group asks: How are we experiencing these multiple crises and wars? How do we feel and think about them from racialized, plural bodies in resistance; from the defense of Indigenous, Afro-descendant, and peasant territories; from the creation of our own media and autonomies with or without permission?
In our Working Group, we look against the backdrop of systems of death, horror, and war, at the rebellions, resistances, and re-existences that rise up on their own terms in every corner of the known world. All of them, with diverse forms, but with horizons that today, for many, emerge at the singular intersection of lives that simultaneously challenge and confront capitalism, sexism, cis(hetero)patriarchy, and racism. Struggles whose main strength today lies in their pluriversal character as a defense of life.
