This research booklet is the result of a joint call between the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
From a comparative perspective between China and Latin America, this research explores how emotions—fear, hope, anguish, suffering—permeate the daily experiences of those facing poverty and ecological degradation. Drawing on the sociology of bodies and emotions, it analyzes public policies, collective actions, and social sensibilities that shape these realities. Employing a research strategy that includes literature review, interviews, surveys, and international seminars, the work offers an original perspective on emotional ecologies and their role in processes of resistance, adaptation, and the construction of alternatives.
