Crisis and the global economy
Our CLACSO Working Group on Crisis and the World Economy is an interdisciplinary network made up of around sixty researchers, professors and teachers from 14 countries in Our America:
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Haiti, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela. And from Spain, France, and the USA.
From a critical theoretical perspective of political economy, we address the analysis of the global capitalist economy and its current crisis. A true civilizational crisis due to its multiple dimensions: financial, economic, environmental, food, energy, military, etc.
We aim to contribute to the public debate with analyses and research that rigorously characterize the ongoing transformations of the global capitalist economy and its socioeconomic and political determinants for the countries of Our America.
The harshest consequences fall on the shoulders of the working classes and the people: unemployment grows, job insecurity increases, poverty wages are imposed, social security is dismantled, public and private debt grows, the environment is destroyed, migrations and forced displacements occur due to the expansion of extractivism, hunger and wars.
We do this from a commitment, as a collective of researchers, to the political struggles of our peoples for a transition towards societal proposals that overcome the inhumane social order imposed on us by world capital: anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist, anti-patriarchal and socialist.
