Building sovereignty
An economic interpretation of and for Latin America. Vol. I

Author: Theotônio dos Santos.
Editores: Monica Bruckmann. Francisco López Segrera.
CLACSO presents a two-volume anthology of the work of Theotônio Dos Santos, one of the most important authors of our time, both for his originality and scope and for the way in which he exercised critical thinking with acuity and creativity. Throughout his life, the great Brazilian thinker developed an analysis focused on understanding the contemporary world, combining a perspective on recent human history with the scientific thought necessary to interpret and act upon it.
The constant interplay between theory and practice imprinted one of Dos Santos's distinctive marks on his work: that of a social scientist committed to the great causes of humanity. Dos Santos was one of the forerunners of dependency theory and an activist dedicated to developing an interpretation of the political economy of the contemporary world, conceived from our region and with an emancipatory perspective.
