Building a new eco-social world
The popular summit «Co-creating a new eco-social world: Leaving no one behind"It will take place from June 29 to July 2, 2022. Through representative organizations, hundreds of millions of people have already committed to co-designing and co-building a sustainable world in which all people live with confidence, security and feel that they are part of it."
People from around the world are inviting world leaders to join them in working together to create a new eco-social world as we emerge from the pandemic. The World People's Summit is for everyone. It brings together individuals and communities, people of lived experience, and global organizations to co-create a combined global conversation about building shared value for a new eco-social world that leaves no one behind.
The vision of this people's world summit arises from this pandemic, the climate crisis, and the need to co-create a new eco-social world based on values that shape policies and practices to ensure sustainability and good quality life cycles, not only for every human being, but for every part of our ecosystems on which we all depend, leaving no one behind.
The global people's summit offers spaces for representatives of groups and individuals to advance their ideas and provides a platform for engagement across diverse cultures, lived experiences, professional groups, and perspectives. All contributions will shape the Global Values Declaration for a New Eco-Social World, which will be submitted to the United Nations High-Level Political Forum in July 2022 and will create a catalyst for future global action.
The summit's partners include global trade unions, healthcare sectors, international student organizations, United Nations agencies, social movements, academic/educational networks, and many others. It is an opportunity for everyone to get involved in building shared, sustainable futures.
The People's Summit is part of a process that has already begun with social movements and organizations around the world calling for equality and sustainability. The summit's partners, who are connected to many of these movements, come from diverse perspectives and cultures. They have already broken down traditional barriers and committed themselves to a shared vision.
The summit partners have collectively agreed on a set of principles and values as a starting point to inspire new ideas and contributions. These are intended to represent the diverse cultures, philosophies, and interests of the world. They will guide the task of developing globally shared principles and values for a new eco-social world that leaves no one behind.
Among them are:
-Buen Vivir, a social philosophy based on the indigenous belief systems of South America that describes a way of life and a form of development that considers that social, cultural, environmental and economic issues work together and in balance, not separately and hierarchically as at present.
-Respect, dignity, harmony and justice
-Diversity, belonging, reciprocity and equity
-Ubuntu, an African indigenous philosophy based on the interdependence and interconnection of people with their environment; I am because we are.

UnescoRILA Partnership Declaration
The UNESCO Chair on the Integration of Refugees through Languages and the Arts (UnescoRILA) is delighted to partner with the People's Summit, especially in light of our work with MIDEQ (Migration for Diversity and Equality). UnescoRILA explores migration through multilingual research, creative resilience, and well-being—all vital components for building an eco-social world. We are all fundamentally interdependent. Through our partnership, we will support the use of creativity and creative resilience, as a new world will be built not only by politicians but also by "poets."
