 Conference on the SDGs in Argentina and Latin America

The Latin America department of the French Development Agency (AFD), in collaboration with the Political Observatory of Latin America and the Caribbean at Sciences Po Paris (OPALC) and students from Sciences Po Paris, has produced an Atlas of initiatives and projects related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Latin America and the Caribbean, which was presented on Monday, April 22 at the French Embassy in Buenos Aires, coinciding with Earth Day.

Within the framework of the cooperation project that is being developed, the Director of Editorial Production was present on behalf of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, Fernanda Pampín, and one of the coordinators of the Working Group “Gender, (in)equalities and rights in tension”, Andrea Daverio.

The aim of this work is to refresh the prevailing view of the region, highlighting its positive dynamics. The result is a highly visual, graphic, and colorful fifty-page publication that showcases the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) illustrated by innovative, forward-thinking, and replicable projects across the region.

The ceremony was opened by the French ambassador to Argentina, Romain Nadal, and the director of the AFD in Argentina, Lorena Chara.

Next, there was a remote presentation of the SDG Atlas by its author, Olivier DabèneProfessor at Sciences Po Paris, researcher, president of the Political Observatory of Latin America and the Caribbean (OPALC), and various interventions, namely: Professor Andrea Daverio (National University of Lanús, researcher of the network) CLACSO) on the SDG reducing inequalities, and María Victoria Boix He participated on behalf of CIPPEC regarding the SDG action against climate change.

Also participating were members of the France in Argentina team (French Embassy, ​​Alliance Française, French Institute, French Development Agency), civil society organizations, and students and teachers from the Jean Mermoz Franco-Argentine Lycée in Buenos Aires.

The Sustainable Development Goals seek to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new 2030 agenda.

Participation in this meeting consolidates the projects that are being carried out between CLACSO and the AFD.
