FOLEC-CLACSO recommends attending the international conference “International Conference | Led by Ismael Ràfols,” which will take place on April 9 at 14:00 p.m. at the Miguelete Campus of the National University of San Martín (TDA building, CENIT meeting room), in San Martín, Buenos Aires Province. The event will be led by Ismael Ràfols, a researcher at the University of Valencia and a specialist in social studies of science and science evaluation policies.

The conference, entitled “What do we know about research funding from the Global North to the Global South? Estimates of flows and funding modalities,” is part of the presentation of results from the CLACSO “Funding Flows” project. This project analyzes international flows of scientific funding and their effects on knowledge production, paying particular attention to the relationships between the Global North and South and how these dynamics influence the definition of research agendas.

This event is of particular interest to researchers, professors, managers, and students involved in science, technology, and innovation policies, as it fosters critical reflection on the role of international funding in contexts where local resources are limited. It also allows for an examination of the potential tensions between funding opportunities and autonomy in building scientific capacity in the Global South, providing empirical evidence and recent comparative analyses.
