Working Conference on the Reactionary International

The "Working Conference on the Reactionary InternationalThe event took place on June 12 and 13 in Brussels, Belgium, and was jointly organized by the Progressive International, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation and the network Transform! Europe, with the participation of Pablo Vommaro, Executive Director of CLACSO.

The meeting, which is the first since the creation of the consortium on the Reactionary International of which CLACSO was a founderIts main objective was to move from the analysis and diagnosis of the global far right to coordinated political, legal and regulatory action.

During the conference, Vommaro had a meeting with the British Jeremy CorbynMember of the House of Commons, and with Greta Thunberg, a Swedish climate justice activist, within a broad set of references for thought and action of the left and progressive movements, both in Europe, in Latin America and in the Global South.

“In these meetings we were able to exchange not only about the characteristics and the need to deepen research and knowledge about the ways in which the far right deploys its power in the world and its transnational articulations and networks of international coordination, but also to advance proposals that can stop that advance, that can limit the advance and that can also strengthen and revitalize democratic, fairer, more egalitarian projects, that can consolidate the proposals from the progressive, popular and left-wing fields,” Pablo Vommaro pointed out.

And he elaborated: “These were very productive and fruitful meetings with different leaders, unions, social organizations, foundations linked to different sectors of progressivism and the left, with activists, social militants, cultural militants, militants linked to gender and diversity, on environmental and climate issues, on issues related to racial justice, tax justice, migration, popular communication, social networks and digital strategies.”
