With a feminist perspective and situated in Latin America and the Caribbean
Within the framework of the project “Strengthening the feminist agenda through research and training in Latin America and the Caribbean", powered by CLACSO y UN WomenSeveral research projects have been developed to enrich the debates and public policies surrounding care in the region. This paper presents two new studies that address care from key perspectives: feminism, rurality, and social co-responsibility.
The first publication, titled “The gender perspective in community careThis study analyzes community care experiences in Latin America to extract lessons and reflections useful for their inclusion in care systems that are being designed or implemented in various countries. The study identifies and analyzes five community initiatives with transformative potential, which advance the redistribution, recognition, reduction, reward, and representation of care work, from a feminist perspective that strengthens social and gender co-responsibility.
For its part, the document “Care in rural contexts in Latin America and the CaribbeanThis study focuses on the multiple and diverse rural realities of the region, exploring how care practices are configured and redefined in these territories. Using a situated and decolonial approach, the study highlights gender inequalities in rural contexts, incorporates local knowledge, and promotes social dialogues that strengthen the impact of public policies in these environments.
Both publications constitute fundamental contributions to the recognition of care as a right and a collective responsibility, and reinforce the need to design public policies sensitive to the territory, gender and the multiple ways in which care is organized and lived in Latin America and the Caribbean.
