Statement in solidarity with the Haitian people
El CLACSO Working Group Crisis responses and alternatives in the Greater Caribbean Together with the "Norman Girvan" Chair of Caribbean Studies at the University of Havana, they express their solidarity with the Haitian people after the impact of the earthquake of August 14, 2021.
The images remind us of the 2010 earthquake that also affected the sister nation and caused terrible human and material losses in a country suffering economic difficulties aggravated by the permanent political and social crisis.
Haiti needs the support of the rest of the Caribbean and Latin America in this difficult time. We urge fellow researchers, professors, students, and activists who admire Haiti, its history of rebellion, and the resilience of its people, to support the defense of the interests of our Haitian brothers and sisters and the efforts of the Haitian people to move forward and overcome the most diverse adversities.
