We reject the coup d'état perpetrated in our sister republic of Bolivia

The Association of Black Researchers of Brazil – ABPN, the Association of Afro-Latin American and Caribbean Researchers, AINALC and the CLACSO Working Group on Afro-descendants and counter-hegemonic proposals They express their strongest condemnation of the coup d'état perpetrated in our sister republic of Bolivia. This fascist and anti-democratic coup, supported by racist, colonialist, and fundamentalist rhetoric, seeks to destroy the Bolivian people's right to freely decide their own destiny.

We condemn the horrific acts of violence perpetrated against the Bolivian people, as well as the grave human rights violations unleashed against the Indigenous, Black/Afro-descendant population and their social and grassroots organizations. We reject the arbitrary detention of our colleague María Eugenia Choque Quispe, President of the Electoral Tribunal, and demand her immediate release, as well as the guarantee of her right to due process.

We stand in solidarity with the Bolivian people and call upon educational and academic institutions in the region and around the world to join in the defense of democracy in Bolivia, upholding their right to peace and democratic elections. We express our solidarity and support for the Bolivian people and reject all the fascist actions that have them under siege.

We declare ourselves on alert against this coup d'état and reiterate the commitment of ABPN, AINALC and the GT to the defense and promotion of the Human Rights of the black/Afro-descendant population in Latin America and the Caribbean and to the fight against racism and inequality.
