How to promote research in social sciences?

Specialists from Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, Paraguay, Panama, Argentina, and Canada, linked to science and public policy, convened by the Group for Development Analysis (GRADE), the National Council for Science, Technology and Technological Innovation (CONCYTEC), the Center for Sociological Research and Studies (CIES), and On Think Tanks of Peru, with the support of the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), met on June 11 and 12 at GRADE headquarters in Lima to share experiences of national policies for the promotion and financing of social sciences in various countries, and to identify barriers and concrete mechanisms for the promotion and public financing of social sciences in Peru.

The closing of the day included speeches by the president of CONCYTEC, Fabiola León-Velarde, and the President of the Council of Ministers of Peru, Salvador del Solar, who reflected on what was discussed during the seminar and urged the coordination of agendas and funds to promote research in social sciences.
