The five books that make up this co-publication by ALAS and CLACSO not only express the strategic alliance between both institutions aimed at enhancing the visibility of the social sciences in our continent, but also reflect the maturity and richness of current Latin American sociological production, grounded in a diversity of approaches and a commitment to the development of critical thinking.

In this book, we aim to present theoretical and methodological contributions resulting from the research and reflections of Latin American social scientists. These contributions will enable a critical and in-depth analysis of the processes that have led Latin America to become the continent with the greatest inequality, high poverty rates, and significant problems of social integration. The publication's content will be guided by a description of different forms of inequality and processes of social exclusion, a theoretical and methodological reflection on these concepts, and an analysis of the actions and foundations employed by different states and social actors to resist and confront these problems.
