Combating the growing fundamentalism in Paraguay

“In Paraguay, we have an urgent need to combat the growing fundamentalism that penetrates all social interstices and, fundamentally, has managed to permeate government decisions,” said Clyde Soto, a feminist, researcher at the Center for Documentation and Studies of Paraguay and member of the CLACSO Steering Committee, in a dialogue with CLACSO TV.

In addition to denouncing the attack on human rights in her country and highlighting the progress of the Paraguayan women's movement, Clyde Soto pointed out that "society is no longer satisfied with inequality, it is not satisfied with authoritarianism, however in Paraguay we have not yet achieved a good link between that social aspiration and the decisions of the state decision-making bodies."

The interview took place within the framework of the participation of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences in the Congress of the Latin American Sociological Association (ALAS) in Lima, Peru, from December 1 to 6.
