Colombia on the acts of violence against young people and adolescents in the country

The CLACSO-Colombia Member Centers and their researchers condemn the recent acts of violence in the country, which have resulted in the deaths of young people and adolescents. We express our deepest sorrow and solidarity with their families, some of whom have been revictimized by the relentless violence that seems to have no end.

We reject these events that occurred in the departments of Cauca, Valle del Cauca and Nariño, framed within the dynamics of the armed conflict and in a situation of national escalation of violence and systematic non-compliance with the Final Peace Agreement.

Young people are the lifeblood of a society and it is the responsibility of the State to guarantee their lives and all the conditions for their full development.

We urgently call on the national government to provide all guarantees for the clarification of these events and to implement the necessary measures for the protection of youth, life and peace in Colombia.
