Colo-Colo, the first Chilean club to sign an agreement with CLACSO
The Colo-Colo Social and Sports Club of Chile, thanks to the work of its Center for Studies, and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences signed a novel cooperation agreement that will allow the entire Colo-Colo community, leaders, officials, athletes, members and associates, to access training and development benefits offered by CLACSO on its platforms.
In this way, CSD Colo-Colo becomes the first club in Chile to achieve an agreement like this with CLACSO and the second in Latin America after Racing of Argentina.
The collaborative agreement was signed by Edmundo Valladares, president of CSD Colo-Colo, and Karina Batthyány, Executive Secretary of CLACSO. Also participating in the virtual meeting were representatives from the Club: Ignacio Franjola, Vice President; Carla Núñez, General Secretary; and Pavel Piña, Director of Heritage. Representing the Latin American Council were Pablo Vommaro, Director of Research, and Rodrigo Soto, Coordinator of the Sport, Culture, and Society Group.
Ignacio Franjola acknowledged that this alliance will bring benefits to the Colo-Colo community, professionalize and train the work teams, and develop initiatives to promote and highlight the various initiatives carried out by the institution.
“As the National Board of Directors of CSD Colo-Colo, we greatly value the signing of this cooperation agreement with CLACSO, which reflects an institutional policy of engagement with multiple organizations and relevant actors in civil society, and which in this case is materialized through the Club's Center for Social and Political Studies. This agreement will allow us to deepen our lines of research on football and our club, from a social science perspective,” he said.
“We hope that this agreement will allow us to expand both the lines of research and knowledge generation, as well as to create opportunities for knowledge transfer to all those who are interested in this particular field of research,” he pointed out.
Similar concepts were expressed by Pavel Piña, who highlighted that "it will help us to provide a benefit to our people, but fundamentally to continue generating and deepening research related to historical and social issues within the Club."
From CLACSO, Karina Batthyány praised this type of agreement, stating that “we are very pleased with this signing and hope it will be a very fruitful agreement. We believe we can have a series of joint actions established in the agreement to carry out studies, research projects, and training programs not only for athletes, but also for the entire wider community surrounding the Colo-Colo Social and Sports Club, in addition to publications, co-editions, promotional materials, and using the communication channels to publicize the initiatives of this agreement.”
