Latin American Perspectives Collection: A State of the Debate

1. The overall objective of the call is to continue a collection of books that addresses, from different theoretical and methodological perspectives, the new developments and transformations taking place in the fields of knowledge of the social sciences and humanities.
2. The fields or areas of knowledge should preferably be the subject of trans, inter and multidisciplinary studies and be addressed by researchers belonging to CLACSO Member Centers and associates.

1. Those interested should register on the CLACSO website. To do so, they will have access to an online form where they must complete the minimum information required for the evaluation of the publishing project.
2. The application must include an editorial proposal consisting of a justification of the new developments in the relevant field of knowledge and a tentative table of contents listing the topics and authors who would participate in the project. The complete book is not expected to be submitted at the application stage.
3. The project may have up to three coordinators, who must be linked to centers associated with CLACSO.
4. Each proposal must have a minimum of 10 (ten) and a maximum of 15 (fifteen) chapters, by authors in gender parity from at least six countries, in order to ensure that each volume includes perspectives that reflect on the state of the debate in different countries of the region.
5. The complete book may extend to a maximum of 320 pages in Times New Roman 12 format, with one and a half spacing.
6. The articles included in the selected editorial proposals must be original and must not have been published in other media.
7. Articles written in collaboration by up to a maximum of 3 authors may be submitted.
8. Both the proposal and the final version of the texts must be submitted in Spanish and/or Portuguese.

To ensure the unity of the collection, each publishing project must submit a proposal that respects the following structure:

1. A preliminary study that aims to provide a broad overview of the area or areas of knowledge addressed by the publication (for example: the relationship between inequality and poverty). This study should consider the theoretical, methodological, and thematic transformations that the field has undergone in recent years.
2. A minimum of 3 (three) and a maximum of 5 (five) sections in which thematic approaches to the area of ​​knowledge are organized.
3. The selected books must be submitted in their complete and final version, adapted to the editorial standards that will be communicated in due course.

1. For the implementation of the publishing project, the CLACSO Executive Secretariat will award up to four grants of up to US$1000 each for the development of the initiatives, one for each selected project. The grants will be distributed through a designated coordinator for each project.
2. The support will be paid in two installments. The first will be made effective once the editorial proposal has been selected, and the second upon presentation of the complete and final manuscript, for which the deadline for receiving the preliminary editorial proposal is set at March 1, 2024.
3. The four selected projects will receive technical support from the CLACSO editorial team.
4. CLACSO will extend an invitation to one coordinator from each team to the X Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences, “Horizons and transformations for equality. Democracies, resistances, communities, rights and peace”, to be held in Bogotá, Colombia, in June 2025, for the presentation of the respective volumes.

1. The proposals submitted will be reviewed for their formal and administrative aspects to ensure compliance with the call for proposals. Proposals that do not meet the established requirements will be subject to technical review.
2. Proposals that advance to the next stage will be evaluated by the CLACSO Editorial Committee, which will assess their quality and relevance. To ensure impartiality, all proposals must be submitted under a pseudonym.
3. The call may select up to four works or be declared void if the proposals submitted do not meet the required quality standards.
4. Situations not covered by this call for proposals will be resolved by CLACSO.
5. The ruling will be final.

1. The authors declare that all rights to the winning works of this competition belong to them entirely and exclusively, and they assign and transfer to CLACSO all exclusive worldwide rights of publication and sale in all languages ​​and in any format that CLACSO deems appropriate. The authors will not receive any royalties.
2. ISBN and Legal Deposit registrations will be processed by CLACSO. CLACSO reserves the right to include the final digital book in its Virtual Library and Latin American Bookstore, as well as to make it available for free and unrestricted distribution and download.
3. Likewise, CLACSO may make the work available to establish publishing partnerships that allow for a greater and wider circulation of the material through print and digital media.
