Latin American Perspectives Collection

 Latin American Perspectives Collection

We are pleased to present two new titles in the Miradas Latinoamericanas collection, the result of the second edition of the open call of the same name, now available in open access. This collection, co-published with Siglo XXI Editores, aims to highlight new theoretical, methodological, and thematic developments in diverse fields of knowledge, through interdisciplinary perspectives and different intellectual traditions.

The Worlds of Work in the Americas reflects on the specificities and multiplicities of work experiences and workers in Latin America from a historical perspective. The Dilemmas of Building a Welfare State questions whether it is possible, given the socioeconomic and political conditions of our countries, to construct an inclusive and solidarity-based social contract to sustain welfare states, or, in other words, how we can move toward building well-being for the majority in societies with high inequality, extreme wealth concentration, and social and cultural diversity.
