 Beijing+30 Document Collection

Within the framework of the commemoration of the 30 years since the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (Beijing +30), UN Women It has been promoting multiple initiatives to strengthen dialogue and the influence of civil society in Latin America and the Caribbean, especially feminist and women's organizations. Beijing+30 represents a unique opportunity to review progress, challenges, and renewed commitments regarding gender equality, women's empowerment, and human rights, in a regional context of profound social, political, and economic challenges.

Since its adoption in 1995, civil society organizations, particularly feminist and women's organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean, have played a decisive role in the implementation and follow-up of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Their advocacy has brought to light long-standing demands related to political participation, sexual and reproductive health, and the eradication of violence, while also demanding accountability from states and the inclusion of gender and intersectional perspectives in public policies. This legacy translates today into a political and social force that continues to chart the course toward substantive equality in the region.

Aware of this journey, and as part of the partnership agreement of UN Women ’s relationship with the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, Wednesday October 1 the Beijing Collection +30, which brings together different documents that have received support from UN Women, or that have been prepared directly by the organizations, on the achievements made and the challenges left in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action 30 years after its adoption.

Furthermore, by presenting all the documents together, they offer a diverse and pluralistic perspective to the evaluation of Beijing+30, integrating intersectional viewpoints and highlighting demands and proposals from the voices of organized civil society. We also hope that these documents will gain visibility and contribute to fostering dialogue among academic, political, and civil society actors, thereby amplifying their impact at multiple levels.
