CLACSO and El Colegio de México

On Wednesday, July 31, at the headquarters of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, Karina Batthyány , Executive Director of CLACSO, held a working meeting with the President of the College of Mexico, Silvia Elena Giorguli Saucedo , which was also attended by Pablo Yankelevich , Director of the Center for Historical Studies, and Gabriela Said , Director of Publications, representing Colmex, and Pablo Vommaro , Academic Secretary, and Fernanda Pampín , Director of Editorial Production, representing CLACSO .

At the end of the meeting, Silvia Elena Giorguli Saucedo explained that “El Colegio de México is one of CLACSO's Member Centers, and this semester we have a very busy schedule of exchanges. On the one hand, El Colegio will host a meeting on care work, where CLACSO's Executive Director, Karina Batthyány, is one of our speakers. A meeting on mobility is also being organized in Mexico, in which colleagues from El Colegio de México will participate. On the other hand, we have a major initiative, which we will present to the public this August: the ColMex Library at CLACSO. This will allow us to make part of our editorial collection available in open access on the CLACSO website. So, we have many collaborations to celebrate, and that is part of the objective of today's meeting.”

In turn, Karina Batthyány added that “we just finished a meeting with a delegation from El Colegio de México, headed by its director, Silvia Giorguli—El Colegio de México, of course, is a very important Member Center for CLACSO—where we shared information on joint activities we are developing and new initiatives to promote in the coming months. More specifically, El Colegio will participate in our upcoming forum of the Platforms for Social Dialogue on migration and environmental issues. Within the framework of that forum, we will be launching the joint CLACSO-El Colegio de México collection in our repository, our virtual library, which will further enhance the visibility of El Colegio's output as an emblematic institution of Latin American and Caribbean social sciences through our Latin American and Caribbean Social Sciences Bookstore website. We will also be exploring the possibility of continued collaboration within the framework of training programs, such as the participation of some of El Colegio's researchers in the CLACSO Classroom series.
