CLACSO makes its way in China

During their visit to China in mid-November 2019, members of the CLACSO Executive Secretariat visited Shanghai University with the purpose of strengthening ties between both institutions and thinking together about how to develop a perspective from the Global South on issues that are strategic: poverty, social inequalities and development problems.

CLACSO TV had the opportunity to talk about the importance of the meeting with the Executive Secretary of CLACSO, Karina Batthyány, and with the history professor Changgang Guo.

Karina Batthyány announced that they agreed to hold a joint forum in 2020. “We are also working to ensure that all the research and publications we produce at CLACSO are available in China. And for that, it is essential to have strategic works from our collection at the Latin American and Caribbean Social Sciences Library translated into Chinese.”

Changgang Guo, in turn, emphasized that ““The meeting with CLACSO is very important for us because we already have a common theme: how to develop, how to reduce poverty, specifically for displaced countries,” ensuring that “Latin America is very important to us; it’s not just a large market for China. We see it as a place to share experiences and address problems. In that sense, we should cooperate more.”
