The identifying image for the X Conference #CLACSO2025 was presented

Just over 10 months before the X Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences, which will be held in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, the Executive Director of CLACSO, Karina Batthyány, presented the identifying image of the great continental and world meeting of social sciences during his participation in the weekly InfoCLACSO program on Wednesday, July 31.
From June 9 to 12, #CLACSO2025 will take place under the slogan: “Horizons and transformations for equality – Democracies, resistance, communities, rights and peace“Before that, on June 7 and 8, the Ordinary Assembly of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences will meet to set the institutional policy for the next three years, renew its Steering Committee and elect its Executive Director.”
Latin America and the Caribbean are going through times of defining moments and uncertainty, with advances and setbacks on their path to expanding democracy and equality and achieving full self-determination for their peoples. All these topics for discussion and the development of proposals are summarized in the 24 thematic areas that will shape the Conference:
- Environment, climate change, transitions and social development
- Arts, social research, urban spaces and resistance
- Open science and the commons
- Democracy, Human Rights and Peace
- Right to education, public policies and pedagogical alternatives
- Collective violence and security policies in contexts of right-wing advances
- Rights, cultures, digital societies and communication
- Rights, violence and gender equality
- Inequalities and poverty
- Economy, debates on development models and alternatives, and systemic crisis
- Epistemologies of the South, feminist and decolonial
- State and public policies
- Geopolitics and integration
- Migration, borders and human mobility
- Social movements, activism, and political subjectivities
- Indigenous peoples
- Racisms, Blackness, and Afro-diasporic processes
- Reconfigurations of work in today's world: subjects, organizations, new forms of exploitation and resistance
- Ruralities
- Public and collective health
- Social and political theory
- Construction, culture of peace and conflict transformation
- Territorialities, disputes over the public sphere and the production of life in common
- Critical reflections on ableism and counter-ableist resistance

The previous Conference took place at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in June 2022 under the name “The web of inequalities in Latin America and the Caribbean: Knowledge, struggles, and transformations".
