CLACSO participated in the reception for the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China

At the reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Argentina on the occasion of the national anniversary, Ambassador Wang Wei reviewed the key aspects of the bilateral relationship and his country's vision on global cooperation.

CLACSO was present at the reception organized by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Argentina to commemorate the 77th anniversary of its founding, held on Tuesday, September 15, in the City of Buenos Aires. Representing the institution were Executive Director Pablo Vommaro and Communications Director Gustavo Lema.

During the event, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Argentina, Wang Wei , greeted the CLACSO delegation and reaffirmed the importance of academic and cultural cooperation. He also delivered a speech in which he emphasized his country's commitment to ensuring that the benefits of the technological revolution and development reach all peoples. In this vein, he stressed that China shares its market with the rest of the world, provides public goods, and develops global partnerships "based on equality, openness, and cooperation," in contrast to the logic of isolation, "high walls in small yards," and the formation of closed blocs. He further underscored his country's commitment to global peace and development and to building "a community with a shared future for mankind."

Regarding the region, the ambassador maintained that the status of Latin America and the Caribbean as a "zone of peace" should not be undermined, that the path of development of Latin American and Caribbean countries should not be interrupted, and that the right of these nations to autonomously choose their cooperation partners should not be interfered with.

Finally, Wang Wei expressed China's willingness to deepen cooperation in various areas within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative memorandum of cooperation, and affirmed that the Embassy would continue working to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The ceremony concluded with a toast to the prosperity of the People's Republic of China and to the friendship and cooperation between the peoples of both nations.
