CLACSO participated in the preparatory conference for CRES+5
On March 22 and 23, five years after the III Regional Conference on Higher Education was held in Córdoba (Argentina), the National University of Córdoba invited more than 70 leaders in higher education from 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean to agree on a common direction for the celebration of CRES + 5.
As a representative of the CLACSO Network, Dr. Judith Naidorf (CONICET-UBA) actively participated in discussions on the agenda and working methodology for the upcoming CRES+5, convened from March 13 to 15, 2024, in the city of Brasilia (Brazil).
At the recent event held in Córdoba, it was recommended to add the topics proposed during the 2018 CRES: governance, financing and autonomy, and the well-being and participation of the higher education community. The inclusion of the pandemic and its implications for higher education was approved as a cross-cutting theme.
The working methodology, leading up to the CRES+5 conference, will include virtual working groups for each of the topics, with the aim of presenting a final report to CRES+5 and contributing to the final declaration. For their part, the participants in this preparatory meeting committed to including the CRES+5 agenda in their regional meeting schedules to collaboratively develop the topics with the broadest possible participation, recommending that the voices of students and groups deserving of equity be included.
