CLACSO is a new member of the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee

We are pleased to announce that at the International Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) taking place at UNESCO headquarters in Paris from December 17-19, the Latin American Council of Social Sciences has been elected as a member of the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee representing Latin America and the Caribbean.
In the period that is ending for the current NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee (2022-2024), the region was represented by CLADE-Latin American Campaign for the Right to Education.
From CLACSO we are applying with the objective of continuing from the Liaison Committee the effort to increase the presence of our region among the NGOs associated and consultative with UNESCO, a region that currently has 16 NGOs out of a total of 425 that have associative or consultative status with UNESCO.
We also aim to collaborate from our region in the implementation of any approved recommendations. Furthermore, considering the advances in technology available for virtual meetings and automatic translation, we will seek to encourage the use of Spanish and Portuguese among the languages for activities organized by the NGO-UNESCO Liaison Committee, as well as promote greater participation of young people representing NGOs in these activities.
