CLACSO-FOLEC in the webinar "Right to Science: Democratization and Open Science"

Judith Naidorf, coordinator of CLACSO-FOLEC, will participate in the webinar "Right to Science: Democratization and Open Science" Organized by the Openlab Ecuador Foundation. The objective of the webinar is to position the discussion of the right to science and define possible lines of action so that States can be effective guarantors of it. The event, which will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 15:30 p.m. Colombia time (20: 30 UTCThe event is divided into two regional panels addressing the "Right to Science: Democratization and Open Science" and the intersections of "The Right to Science, Democratization, and Open Science." The speakers are experienced activists who will share their reflections on science as a right and its implementation, made possible through Open Science.

Naidorf will share the panel with Guillermo Anlló, Ismael Rafols, and Julio Gaitán. A brief description of the speakers follows:

• Guillermo AnllóHe holds a degree in Economics and an M.Sc. in Science, Technology and Society, specializing in STI policy, bioeconomy, and innovation indicators. He is in charge of the STI Policy Program at the UNESCO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Judith NaidorfShe holds a Bachelor's and a Doctorate in Educational Sciences, is a principal researcher at CONICET, and a professor at the University of Buenos Aires. She coordinates the Latin American Forum on Scientific Evaluation (FOLEC) of CLACSO.
• Ismael RafolsSenior Research Fellow at CWTS and UNESCO Chair on Diversity and Inclusion in Global Science. He works in science policy to promote epistemic pluralism and broaden the distribution of the benefits of science.
• Julio GaitánDoctor of Sociology of Law, Master of Public Law and Lawyer. Professor emeritus and director of the Center for Internet and Society -ISUR- at the University of Rosario.

The panel is moderated by Francisco Silva-Garcés. He is the coordinator of the Citizen Laboratory for Free Technologies and Culture. Openlab Ecuador and a member of UNESCO's Global Steering Committee for Open Science. Openlab is a citizen laboratory for free technologies and culture, dedicated to promoting experimentation, citizen participation, education, and creativity, in support of the Free Software, Open Knowledge, and Digital Rights communities in Ecuador and Latin America, through activities for the common good and for a knowledge and creativity economy.
