CLACSO at the Global Summit of Progressivism in Barcelona
On April 17th and 18th, CLACSO participated in the Global Summit of Progressivism, with the presence of more than twenty international delegations, mostly headed by their respective leaders from Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The meeting took place within the framework of the Fourth Meeting “In Defense of Democracy”From there, a call was made to strengthen joint action to protect and reinforce democratic systems. The initiative aimed to confront the rise of the far right and promote collective reflection on the role of the left in today's world and the state of democracies.
More than 3.000 people participated in a common space, where a hundred activities took place, in which those present contributed from their own perspectives, regions and political traditions, contributing their experience, leadership, identity and diversity to that common mobilization.

Some of the panels in which we participated from CLACSO were: “Oligarchy or Democracy: Tax the super-rich and end extreme wealth inequality”, “The fight against inequality: lessons from Spain”, “The return of power politics to the global economy?”, “Digital Democracy & AI: Platforms, Power and Disinformation”, “Inequality, democracy and distributive justice” e “Political Innovation in America”We were also at the Montjuic Embrace.
Nora GorenThe Coordinator for Strengthening and Articulation at CLACSO participated in the meeting of the International Coalition for Democratic Thought (CIPED), held in Barcelona, which brought together think tanks and civil society organizations from various countries. The event provided a forum for exchange and collaboration aimed at strengthening democracy, multilateralism, and international cooperation in a global context marked by the weakening of multilateral institutions and the deepening of inequalities and conflicts.
