CLACSO at the Forum on Modernization from the Global South

The celebration took place on November 21st Forum on Modernizing the Global Southin Beijing, the capital of China. With the theme “Working together to advance modernization: a shared vision and the path to development”, featured the participation of the Executive Director of CLACSO, Pablo Vommaro.
In that context, the Latin American Council of Social Sciences received the “Award for Research & Practice in Global Development”, Award for Research and Practice in Global Development, awarded by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Information Office of the State Council of China and Peking University.

The "Modernization Forum from the Global South" focused on how countries in the Global South can collaborate to advance their modernization efforts. It seeks a shared vision and path toward development, promoting cooperation, multilateralism, and mutual learning among nations. Participants discuss the need for modernization tailored to the Global South, aiming to build a knowledge and modernization system that serves these countries.
The main topics of discussion were: Promoting multilateralism. Fostering academic exchange and research on the modernization process in the Global South. Building a modernization knowledge system that originates in and serves the Global South. Adapting modernization to the realities and needs of these countries.
