CLACSO.CINE at the X Conference in Bogotá

At its 10th Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Social Sciences, CLACSO is once again promoting an encounter between film and the social sciences and humanities. As in previous conferences, during the event we will be holding a film series that reflects the conflicts and challenges facing the region, enriching the screenings with discussions among specialists, researchers, and the audience. Through this series, we aim to share productions that enrich and contribute new perspectives to the themes discussed at #CLACSO2025.

The Latin American Film and Audiovisual Culture Showcase aims to promote outstanding productions from across the CLACSO Centers region.

CLACSO.CINE 2025 is conceived as a space to showcase audiovisual productions that emerge from social research processes, ethnographic work, and collaborations between academics, social movements, and filmmakers. These productions are presented not only as works of art but also as tools for critical analysis of the region's realities.

Latin America boasts a vast audiovisual production that engages with our diverse realities. However, these works are often marginalized by exhibition circuits that prioritize foreign narratives or mass consumption models. This is compounded by the historical difficulties in linking cinema with academic research, resulting in missed opportunities to generate transformative dialogues.
