Uruguayan sociologist Karina Batthyány, executive secretary of Clacso, said that Latin America and the world are at a crossroads that goes beyond poverty, unemployment and inequality, and includes gender violence, migration, human rights, the quality of democracy, the environmental crisis, the authoritarian tendencies of some governments, among other phenomena.
