Mobile and politicized social science
El CLACSO Working Group on Mobile and Politicized Social Science This project proposes to address, from a critical perspective, the characteristics of Latin American social sciences and higher education in the current context. In a regional context marked by conflicting state projects and the persistence of neoliberal, managerial, and CEO-centric logics that attempt to commodify and dilute transformative horizons, the Working Group adopts as its central axis the concept of a politicized and dynamic social science. This analytical category, consolidated throughout the group's previous work, seeks to dismantle the supposed inevitability of hegemonic discourses and establish a rigorous scientific model that intervenes publicly in defense of social gains.
The group focuses its research agenda on disputes surrounding relevant policies, the establishment of priority and strategic issues by states and universities, and the shaping of a new researcher profile oriented toward solving the problems of our communities. In contrast to traditional accountability imperatives and systems for evaluating academic work based on reductionist productivity parameters and measurements disconnected from local realities, the Working Group advocates for knowledge mobilization. Understood not as mere dissemination, but as the ethical and methodological commitment to making knowledge ready for action, this perspective promotes a science built with and for the needs of the people, actively contesting the meanings of scientific production, circulation, and evaluation in the region.
