The Brigade for Reading in Freedom is a cultural project promoting reading and disseminating Mexican history. It is comprised of a group of reading promoters, cultural figures, historians, and writers who share a common belief in the urgent need to collaborate in the process of making the people of Latin America a nation of readers. This Open Access Library stems from a shared ideal between the Brigade and CLACSO: the conviction that a people who read are a people who have the opportunity to learn from other cultures, discover new horizons, interpret their history, exchange experiences, and build democratic societies.

CLACSO presents the Critical Edition of the Complete Works of José Martí (1853-1895), an initiative of the Center for Martí Studies and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Cuba. The collection, comprised of 29 volumes in Open Access and free of charge, includes José Martí's known manuscripts and printed works: proclamations, speeches, manifestos, communications, dedications, letters, journalistic correspondence, chronicles, articles, essays, narratives, plays, poems, biographical sketches, translations, drawings, drafts, fragments of writings, and notebooks.
