Road to Beirut

The next stop on my international tour in these first months of my term takes me to the Middle East, to Lebanon, to fulfill various functions as Executive Secretary of CLACSO and to participate in the General Assembly of the Arab Council of Social Sciences (ACSS), whose authorities I thank for the invitation.

In that context, I will have the honor of sharing the stage and holding meetings with Jordanian anthropologist Seteney Shami, Director General of ACSS, and with the Associate Director, the Egyptian Moushira Elgeziri, among other eminent figures in the social sciences.

On Saturday, April 13, I will be present as a guest at the ACSS General Assembly, where I will be able to present the central themes of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences and proposals for collaboration between CLACSO and the Arab Council of Social Sciences.

Next, I will attend a panel called “The Latin East: New directions in relations between Latin America and the Middle East.”

My presence in Beirut will be a good opportunity for a new meeting with the representatives of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), a pioneer in global cultural cooperation programs, with whom we have been working together for some time.

From my personal blog and the CLACSO website (clacso.org) we will be expanding this and future activities of the Executive Secretariat.
