Good Living and local knowledge
Within the framework of the International Seminar of the Research and Training Program in Andean Agroecological Systems, promoted by CLACSO and McKnight FoundationThe books “Good Living and local knowledge: Andean systems and agroecology"And"Agroecology in Andean systems”, on October 3rd at the Auditorium of the House of Culture in the city of Tarija, Bolivia.
Participated: Karina Bidaseca, Coordinator of the South-South Program of CLACSO, Claire Nicklin, representative of the McKnight Foundation, the researcher in Environmental Science and Technology, Dani Vargas Huanca, and Oswaldo Ali, representative of the Brazilian Association for Agrarian Reform.
Karina Bidaseca highlighted that these publications represent a valuable testimony of the intersection between academia, network intelligence, and the participation of people working with agroecology in the territory to achieve a Good Life: “When I heard that beautiful conception of caring for water and living beings, it seemed to me that it is a heritage for our humanity, a cosmology that requires academia to open itself to its knowledge, which is just as legitimate, or even more so, because it is ancestral.”
Oswaldo Alí, in turn, highlighted the ethical relationship with nature and the work of women: “The indigenous peoples of Brazil also have this relationship, but urbanization destroys it. How do we rebuild it? Agroecology aims to contribute to achieving this reconstruction. And the leading role of women in these processes is crucial.”
With the support of the Jaina Community and the Plurinational School of Public Management, printed editions of the two works were distributed to groups and institutions in Tarija, such as the UAJMS Postgraduate Program, Councilor Marcela Guerrero, the departmental director of the National Program of Traditional Medicine, Francisco Ruiz, the young Cali, empirical practitioner of agroecology, Hernán Ruiz, the Angirü Collective, the newspaper El País, and other groups.
