The Brazilian Journal of Latin American Studies (BJLAS) is a journal specializing in the dissemination of studies on Latin America. Created in 2002 by the Latin American Integration Graduate Program (PROLAM/USP), BJLAS initially aimed to foster regional integration through publications in this field of knowledge. Over the years, the journal has broadened its disciplinary scope and now publishes postgraduate scholarly work in various fields of the humanities, arts, and social sciences.

The initiative to publish this dossier stems from discussions within the Working Group “China and the Map of World Power” of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO). Established in 2019, the group comprises more than 30 researchers from 16 different countries and has dedicated itself to investigating and analyzing China’s rise on the world stage and its implications for Latin America and the Caribbean.
