Support and solidarity with our colleagues at the Peasant School of Agroecology

From the Working Group of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO): Critical Extension: Theories and Methods in Latin America and the CaribbeanWe express our support and solidarity with our colleagues at the Peasant School of Agroecology (Jocolí, Mendoza, Argentina), who have been resisting the attempted closure by the school government of the Province of Mendoza (Argentina).

In this regard, it is worth mentioning:

The closure of this educational experience, designed to address the specific needs of the rural world, directly affects communities with violated rights and limited access to the education system for young people and adults.
These educational spaces not only guarantee the right to and access to education, but also serve as cultural centers, community dining halls, spaces for vocational training, among others, providing answers to the demands of their territories, places where the State arrives in a very precarious way.

The ECA's educational proposal supports the "Alternation" modality, a methodology of course attendance that allows students to attend classes in a concentrated manner one week per month, thus enabling them to study, develop professionally, and give essential meaning to their integration into the community where they live.
We foster dialogue and knowledge sharing with communities, contributing to and enriching the comprehensive education of students, debating and learning from these educational experiences.

In light of the above, the Working Group of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO): Critical Extension: Theories and Methods in Latin America and the Caribbean It expresses its concern about the situation facing the Peasant School of Agroecology and rejects any attempt to close such a rich social and pedagogical experience.
