The call emphasized that the meeting was an opportunity that mobilizes the participation of the collective of students, teachers, managers, researchers, and extension workers who make up the various areas of research/extension.

The main intention of this edition was to focus on the possibilities of dialogue, questioning and discussion between the teams.

Some possible questions that energized this initial recognition were: What are the advances and/or results (theoretical, methodological, empirical) produced by our research, interventions, and/or study groups that contribute to understanding these times we are experiencing as a society? What challenges arise from these productions for research, intervention, and training, and for the debate surrounding future horizons?

The first conference took place in 2022 and was planned as a biennial event. The second was organized for 2024. However, amidst attacks against public universities, science, and technology, and union struggles, it was decided to postpone it twice, and it ultimately could not be held. This year, after holding several diagnostic meetings with the research and outreach departments that make up the Institute, we decided to revive the initiative and hold the second conference.

In the current critical context of increasing inequalities, regression of democracy and the public sphere that affects the social sciences, the university and society as a whole at the regional and global level, the II Conference invites the teams that make up the Institute to share contributions and challenges for the understanding of our present and the imagination of other horizons of the future.
