Essential Anthology of Elizabeth Jelin
CLACSO presents the essential anthology of Elizabeth Jelin's work to highlight the original, committed, and stimulating nature of her writing and to showcase her approach to the relationship between biography and history, her definition of gender as a set of questions relevant to the social sciences, and her focus on the perspectives of actors as a privileged lens for understanding the social world. Three main thematic areas allow us to organize the vast body of her research: memory and human rights, gender, family and work, and social movements. These themes do not represent stages in her thinking, nor can they be considered isolated, mutually exclusive fields of research. On the contrary, they are three frameworks, three intellectual concerns, that run through her career with different emphases. They are coordinates from which it is possible to read her work and, in turn, understand how her contributions were crucial in structuring these fields and providing a regional perspective.
